Galician Tinned Fish and Seafood Manufacturer

From Galicia

What sets us apart

We are a family-run tinned fish cannery on the Rias Baixas, the Atlantic inlets of southern Galicia. Two generations on, we still pack every tin by hand: sardines, mussels, ventresca and razor clams, in extra virgin olive oil or escabeche. Small batches, no shortcuts, and the flavour of a coastline that has been canning its own catch for over a century.

We look after the catch

We buy only the best of what the boats bring in. Our team - most of them here for years - handle every tin themselves, and nothing leaves the factory until quality control has been through it.

We look after you

Our tinned sardines are rich in omega-3. Our mussels are high in protein. And our razor clams are about as light as seafood gets.

We look after the planet

We back responsible, sustainable fishing. We are steadily moving over to renewable energy, and we keep developing products with a lighter footprint.

Galician tinned fish with history, flavour and commitment

We are a family-run Galician cannery making tinned fish and seafood, and quality is the only thing we compete on. We pack by hand, the way it has been done here for two generations, because that is what protects the product – so that every tin holds the taste of the Atlantic, and the textures and aromas you thought had disappeared.

Serie Oro

Our gourmet line, made for people who really care what they are eating. The fish and shellfish come from the best fishing grounds, they are packed by hand with enormous care by our most experienced staff, and they are finished with organic extra virgin olive oil. The result speaks for itself. Our boxes of 6 or 12 tins make an excellent gift - though our honest advice is to keep them.

Serie azul

Under the Rias Baixas name we only make tinned fish of the highest quality. Serie Azul is the traditional side of that: the tins that keep the essence of our past and our sea alive. Good, healthy tinned fish for everyday eating.

Our best-selling tinned fish

These are the Galician tins our customers come back for. Flavour, tradition and quality – the real thing from the Galician Atlantic.

Since 1907

How we make
our tinned fish

We are clear about this: our Galician tins are made the way they have always been made. We choose the best fish and shellfish, we clean and cook them to recipes handed down to us, and we pack them without rushing. Then they are sealed and sterilised under the strictest safety controls, so that when you open the tin it is exactly as it was on day one.

For us every tin tells a story of the sea – the smell and the taste bring something back. They are stories of respect: for the fishermen who put their lives on the line, and for the Galician hands that turn that catch into something close to art.

Beyond the flavour

A commitment to
the sea and to people

At Conservas Rias Baixas we know our real asset is people: the hands that, day after day and generation after generation, make the tins we are so proud to put in front of you.

We work in a way that respects the sea and values the people who live from it. We look after that environment too, avoiding intensive practices and backing sustainable fishing.

And we invest in local employment and in rural Galicia. We employ almost 100 people directly in the towns of Moana and O Porrino, in the province of Pontevedra.

Very. Oily fish like sardines and mackerel are among the best sources of omega-3 there is, and canning does not take that away – the fish is cooked in the tin, in its own oil, and nothing is lost. Our sardines are rich in omega-3, our mussels are high in protein and our razor clams are naturally low in calorie. No preservatives are needed: the sterilisation does the work.

Tinned fish does not carry a use-by date, only a best-before date – the point after which it may start to lose some of its character in smell, taste or colour. And yes, it is true: tins in olive oil mature over the months and gain in both flavour and texture.
