Our Latest Sustainability Milestones
2026: Ozonated Water Cleaning
at Our Moana Factory
We completely changed the cleaning system used at our factory in Moana by introducing an ozonated water generation system, implemented in collaboration with Augaplus Espana. The new system has enabled us to reduce the use of chemicals in our daily cleaning and disinfection processes by more than 80%.
We have also reduced the use of single-use plastics and minimised occupational risks associated with workers coming into contact with toxic substances, while optimising the safe cleaning and disinfection of our facilities.
2025: Launch of Our First Plant-Based Protein, Greentuna
This is our flagship R&D&I project: we develop plant-based proteins, healthy, free from ingredients of animal origin, allergen-free and presented in tinned format, where their flavour, colour, aroma and texture remain stable for years.
It is a conscious, healthy, environmentally responsible proposal and a great alternative for people who cannot or do not want to consume fish, but still do not want to give up the flavours, memories and versatility of traditional tinned products.
2025: Solar Panels Installed
at Our Moana Factory
In collaboration with Helexia, we installed photovoltaic panels on the roof of our factory in Moana, as another step in our commitment to sustainability, environmental protection and energy efficiency.
The electricity generated is intended entirely for self-consumption at the factory. The installation has a capacity of 158.8 kWp and 267 panels, which will cover 81% of our energy consumption. We will generate 214 MWh per year and avoid emissions equivalent to 79.93 tonnes of CO2.
2025: Collaboration on the SIMBlue Project for Waste Optimisation and Recovery
Conservas Rias Baixas collaborates with Esquio Ingenieria, Anfaco and other institutions and private companies on the SIMBlue project (Industrial Symbiosis Tools for the Sea-Industry Sector) as part of the Nexos 2025 programme, making our facilities available to the consortium technical team for use as a pilot plant. The project aims to optimise and make use of waste generated by the sea-industry sector, promoting the circular economy and the environment.
